Mobile phone coverage is available on many Madeira hiking trails, but it can be weak or unavailable in remote mountain areas, valleys, tunnels and sections surrounded by steep terrain. Don’t rely entirely on your phone for navigation or emergencies. Download your route in advance, keep your phone fully charged and, for longer or remote hikes, consider carrying a power bank and letting someone know your hiking plans.
